My dear uncle is a regular gentleman,
When having gravely fallen ill,
He has forced to respect himself
And could imagine nothing better.
For others he’s a model case;
However, good heaven,
What a boredom for one to sit
With a patient all day and night
Without moving even a step away!
What a mean craftiness
To amuse the alive corpse,
To shake cushions up for him,
To fetch and carry sadly him medicines,
To sigh thinking to oneself:
When on earth hell will accept you!
When having gravely fallen ill,
He has forced to respect himself
And could imagine nothing better.
For others he’s a model case;
However, good heaven,
What a boredom for one to sit
With a patient all day and night
Without moving even a step away!
What a mean craftiness
To amuse the alive corpse,
To shake cushions up for him,
To fetch and carry sadly him medicines,
To sigh thinking to oneself:
When on earth hell will accept you!
